PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Our fluoropolymer (FKM / Viton-style) adhesive-lined heat shrink tubing is a high-performance dual-wall solution engineered for the most demanding high-temperature, chemically aggressive environments where standard polyolefin tubing cannot survive. Featuring a fluoroelastomer outer jacket and a high-temperature hot-melt adhesive inner liner, this tubing delivers exceptional resistance to jet fuels, hydraulic fluids, lubricating oils, solvents, and broad chemical exposure — all while maintaining reliable performance at continuous operating temperatures up to 200°C.

With a 2:1 shrink ratio, the tubing recovers uniformly under heat while the inner adhesive melts and flows, creating a hermetic, chemically resistant seal that bonds to both the tubing and the underlying substrate. This combination makes it the material of choice for aerospace wiring, military equipment, engine compartment harnesses, and industrial applications involving fuels, oils, and extreme thermal cycling.

Important Note: The flammability rating applies specifically to the outer fluoropolymer wall. The inner hot-melt adhesive layer is formulated for high-temperature sealing performance and is not independently flame-certified. Verify suitability for your specific application requirements.

PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGES

► Extreme High-Temperature Capability
Rated for continuous operation at 200°C with intermittent exposure to 230°C — far exceeding the 125°C limit of standard polyolefin heat shrink tubing. The fluoropolymer outer wall maintains mechanical integrity, dielectric performance, and dimensional stability even under prolonged high-heat exposure and severe thermal cycling.

► Unmatched Chemical & Fluid Resistance
The FKM fluororubber compound provides outstanding resistance to a broad spectrum of aggressive fluids including jet fuels (JP-4, JP-8), aviation hydraulic fluids (Skydrol, MIL-H-5606), engine oils, diesel, gasoline, solvents, and many industrial chemicals. Volume swell remains well within specification limits even after extended immersion at elevated temperatures.

► Hermetic High-Temperature Sealing
The dual-wall construction with high-temperature adhesive liner creates a bonded, moisture-proof seal that remains intact across the full operating temperature range. Unlike standard EVA adhesives that soften at elevated temperatures, the high-performance inner adhesive maintains bond strength and sealing integrity at 200°C continuous service.

► Superior Ozone & Weathering Resistance
Fluoropolymer materials are inherently resistant to ozone, UV radiation, oxygen aging, and outdoor weathering — making this tubing ideal for long-term exterior and under-hood applications where environmental degradation is a concern.

► Low-Temperature Flexibility
Despite its high-temperature rating, the material remains flexible at temperatures as low as -65°C, resisting cracking and brittleness in cold environments and maintaining seal integrity through extreme temperature cycles.

► Aerospace-Grade Durability
Engineered to meet the rigorous demands of aerospace and military applications, this tubing withstands vibration, mechanical flexing, and fluid exposure in the most severe service environments — from engine nacelles to landing gear wiring.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Required Tools: High-output heat gun (minimum 450°C output), heat-resistant gloves, utility knife or tubing cutter, optional: reflector nozzle

Step 1 — Preparation
Cut tubing to the required length using a sharp blade. Allow a minimum overlap of 20 mm on each side of the splice or connector. Note: Fluoropolymer tubing requires higher heat input for full recovery than standard polyolefin products.

Step 2 — Placement
Slide the tubing over the cable and position it centrally over the splice, joint, or termination point.

Step 3 — Heat Application
Apply heat using a high-output heat gun set to 450–500°C. Begin at the center and work progressively toward each end. Maintain consistent, even heat distribution. Fluoropolymer tubing requires longer heat exposure due to its higher recovery temperature (175°C). Keep the heat source moving continuously to avoid localized overheating or surface scorching.

Step 4 — Verification
Continue heating until the tubing has fully conformed to the underlying profile and a continuous bead of adhesive extrudes from both ends, confirming complete flow and circumferential sealing. The recovered surface should be smooth with no wrinkles, bridging, or evidence of under-recovery.

Step 5 — Cooling & Inspection
Allow the assembly to cool naturally at room temperature. Do not quench with water or forced cooling as this may create internal stress or adhesive voids. Once cooled, inspect for full recovery, uniform adhesive coverage, and surface integrity.

Important: Due to the high recovery temperature of fluoropolymer tubing, ensure that adjacent components and substrates can withstand installation temperatures of up to 200°C without damage. Use heat shields when installing near temperature-sensitive parts.
